Ipswich Town’s promotion to the Premier League is now on display at Town Hall, where Ed Sheeran’s personal photographs lead a free exhibition that runs until 19 July.

What is the exhibition about?

The "Gawn Up" showcase, created by Ipswich Central and the club, walks visitors through the final weeks of the promotion‑winning campaign. It opens daily from 10:00 BST to 16:00 and features images from Sheeran, who bought a minority stake in 2024 and performed at Portman Road last season. Alongside his shots of the decisive QPR match, works by Adam Rosenbaum, George Dixon and local artist Louise Cobbold fill the walls.

Why does it matter for Ipswich Town?

Beyond nostalgia, the exhibit captures the community spirit that propelled the team to finish second in the Championship with 84 points, a record of 23 wins, 15 draws and 8 losses from 46 games. The club’s solid defence (47 conceded) and potent attack (80 goals) gave a +33 goal difference, keeping them 11 points behind leaders Coventry. Fans see how the town’s energy translated into on‑field success.

Who contributed to the project?

Lee Walker, chief executive of Ipswich Central, explained the free show aims to preserve “the many different stories that made promotion possible”. The exhibition also includes fan‑taken photos and a section by Call Me Ted, a 2024 collective that creates match‑day posters. Each piece offers a fresh glimpse of celebrations few have ever witnessed.

What can visitors expect?

Beyond the celebrity snaps, the gallery holds player portraits, behind‑the‑scenes locker‑room moments and vibrant street‑scene shots of supporters. Visitors can linger over the QPR victory image, then move to a dedicated wall where local artists reinterpret the season’s key moments. The experience is designed to let the town relive the joy before it fades into memory.

When and where?

The exhibition is housed in Ipswich Town Hall, open from 10:00 to 16:00 each day until 19 July. Admission is free, encouraging anyone who followed the club’s rise to step inside and feel the excitement again.
