Ipswich Goalkeeper Van Oevelen Set to Join Valencia on Loan

23‑year‑old Dutch keeper Kayne Van Oevelen has been cleared by Ipswich Town to move on a season‑long loan to Valencia. The move, which has been in the works for days, will see him join Carlos Corberán’s squad and arrive in Spain on Monday.

Loan Deal in the Works

Kayne Van Oevelen, the 23‑year‑old Dutch goalkeeper, is all set to fly to Valencia to finalise a season‑long loan. Superdeporte reports that the player has been left out of Ipswich Town’s squad for the current season, despite joining the club in the summer transfer window. With Ipswich giving the green light, the move is now in place and Van Oevelen is expected to join Carlos Corberán’s squad at the Mestalla.

Ipswich Squad Exclusion

Ipswich released a video featuring the 26 players Gary O’Neil is counting on for the season. Van Oevelen was not listed, even though he had previously been included in the full squad list and had been assigned the number 31 shirt. The omission has been interpreted as a clear signal that the Dutchman is ready to depart.

Ipswich’s squad now appears to consist of Kjell Scherpen, Christian Walton and Alex Palmer. Scherpen has spoken publicly about discussions with Van Oevelen regarding his situation, as reported by Sport Witness last week. Meanwhile, Palmer has been absent with an elbow issue for several weeks, prompting the club to keep Van Oevelen on the bench to provide cover.

Arrival in Valencia

The loan deal, while delayed by a few days, was never at risk. Journalist Héctor Gómez of Tribuna VCF confirmed that Van Oevelen will arrive in Valencia on Monday. He added that the goalkeeper had been asked to stay at Ipswich for a few extra days to help the team during the period of Palmer’s injury.

With everything now in place, Van Oevelen is set to become Valencia’s sixth signing of the summer. The Dutchman’s arrival will strengthen the Spanish side’s goalkeeping options for the remainder of the season.
