Ipswich Town's pursuit of Stade Rennais forward Breel Embolo has been dealt a significant blow as the Switzerland international is now set to join Atlanta United in the MLS. According to a report from Ouest-France, Embolo has travelled to the US where he will complete a move to Atlanta United, currently bottom of the Eastern Conference. The Breton club will receive a €17m fee for the former AS Monaco forward, who only joined from the Principality club last summer. Just one year into his four-year deal, he is on the verge of an exit. The move will be one of the five most expensive transfers in MLS history, should it be completed. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 2nd in Championship, 75 pts, 21W-12D-8L from 41 games, recent form LWWDW. Goals this season: 71 scored, 42 conceded (+29 goal difference). Title race: 11 points behind leaders Coventry. Currently sidelined: Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Azor Matusiwa, Florentino Luís. The loss of Embolo is a significant blow to Ipswich Town's hopes of strengthening their squad in the transfer window. The club will now have to look elsewhere to find a replacement for the Switzerland international.
