Christian Walton has signed a new contract with Ipswich Town that runs until the summer of 2029. The deal extends the commitment of the club's longest-serving first-team player, who returned to the Premier League starting lineup at Everton before the international break.

Walton, 30, joined Ipswich on loan from Brighton in 2021 before making the move permanent the following January.

"I am very pleased to have signed a new deal at the club," Walton said. "As I think all supporters will know, this club and the area means so much to me and I’m incredibly proud of everything we have been able to achieve together over the last few years."

Manager Gary O’Neil confirmed his delight at the agreement. "We’re pleased Christian has agreed a new deal with the club," O’Neil said. "He has obviously achieved so much here during his time as an Ipswich player and has showed himself to be a strong member of our goalkeeping group, so we are delighted he will be with us for an extended period."

The news provides stability for an Ipswich side sitting 11th in the Premier League with six points from five games. Walton's experience will be counted on as the team looks to improve a recent run of form that has seen them lose four of their last five matches. The Wadebridge-born goalkeeper's previous deal was set to expire in 2028.
