Ipswich Town Football Club is hosting a careers fair this week to support young people in the region. The event, organised by the Sizewell C project, will take place at the club's Beattie Suite on Wednesday, September 30.

Around 25 leading organisations will be present, aiming to connect attendees aged 16 to 24 with jobs, apprenticeships, and skills advice. Major participants include the Port of Felixstowe, the Army, ScottishPower Renewables, and the Sizewell C nuclear project itself.

Stuart Allsopp, the Jobs Service Lead at Sizewell C, highlighted the regional opportunity. He said the area is attracting significant investment in sectors like energy and construction, creating many jobs and training opportunities.

The initiative seeks to address government figures showing a portion of young people in the UK are currently not in education, employment, or training. Organisers estimate many people in that age group fall into this category nationally.

Liadan Woods, senior manager for organisation design and delivery at the Port of Felixstowe, emphasised their commitment. Woods stated they are dedicated to investing in new talent and helping young people develop skills for successful careers.

Marianne Flack, deputy principal at Suffolk New College, is also involved in the careers fair. The free event runs from 10am to 2.30pm and is part of a wider effort to build a long-term skills legacy for East Anglia.

This community work continues off the pitch while the first-team squad prepares for its next challenge. The team, currently 11th in the standings with six points from five games, is focusing on a key home fixtures against Fulham on October 10th. Their recent form includes a narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, a game where they were competitive before conceding a late winner. The club will be looking to its full squad to convert such performances into points as the season progresses.
