Ipswich Town will play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Espanyol next week. The match is scheduled for 11am on October 2nd at the RCDE Stadium in Barcelona.

Manager Gary O'Neil has organised the fixture to keep his squad sharp during the three-week international break. Ten first-team players are away with their national teams, leaving a reduced group in training.

"The guys will have a few days off," O'Neil said, outlining the schedule for the period. The private game provides vital minutes for the players who remain.

The break follows a 1-0 defeat at Everton, leaving Ipswich 11th in the Premier League with six points from five games. Their recent form shows one win and four losses from their last five outings.

Espanyol, currently 15th in La Liga with two wins from seven games, have also lost their last two matches. The friendly offers a competitive test before the league resumes.

Ipswich's next competitive fixture is at home to 19th-placed Fulham on October 10th.
