American sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd has taken a minority stake in Ipswich Town. The Fox Sports personality verified his involvement with the Premier League team in a recent phone call.
Cowherd stated, "I became a part-owner in the team." He obtained his share via one of the investment funds with a stake in the club, but the precise percentage was not revealed. A representative for Ipswich Town indicated they could not discuss specific investment details.
Cowherd, the host of The Herd on FS1 and creator of The Volume podcast network, has family ties to English football. His mother, Patricia, who has passed away, hailed from Leicester, which is approximately 120 miles from the club's stadium. He had looked into purchasing a share in Major League Soccer franchises before, but no deals were completed.
He now becomes part of an expanding roster of famous minority stakeholders at Ipswich, which features musician Ed Sheeran and ex-NFL player Marques Colston. The team's valuation was set at around $450 million after a reorganization of ownership late last year.
This investment occurs with Ipswich Town positioned in the Premier League standings. Their recent performances include a mix of wins and losses from their past fixtures, featuring a close win over Crystal Palace in their last outing. A midfielder for the team is out due to an injury.
