Ipswich Town are still looking to be active in the transfer window over the coming fortnight. Stuart Watson looks at the latest links and rumours surrounding the club. The Blues are closing in on the double signing of Julio Enciso and Abdoul Ouattara from Strasbourg, with a club-record fee in the region of £30m expected to be paid for Enciso, plus a further eight-figure fee for Ouattara. Town have had a test-the-water €15m bid for Argentina international Exequiel Palacios rebuffed and, as things stand, are unlikely to push towards Bayer Leverkusen's €35-40m valuation. Town boss Gary O'Neil has signed 10 players for a combined £100m+ already this summer, but recently insisted __'the plan is to do quite a bit more'.__ Chairman Mark Ashton told the EADT and Ipswich Star that the club's ambitious American owners have told him to push to the limits of financial fair play rules, adding: "We've got irons in a number of fires and I expect us to be fairly active right up until the end of the window." Free agent wing-back Krepin Diatta is reportedly being eyed by Ipswich and Everton, with the 27-year-old athletic right wing-back having featured for Senegal at this summer's World Cup. He is now a free agent after being released by French club Monaco. Verdict: Looks a solid source, but Ipswich closing in on Ouattara could see any potential interest here dissipate. Big centre-back Juma Bah is a 20-year-old, 6ft 5in centre-back who hails from Sierra Leone. He joined Manchester City from Spanish club Valladolid in January 2025 and has subsequently had loan spells at French clubs Lens and Nice. According to former Sun journalist Alan Nixon, the Blues have been told he is available for £15m up front plus a further £10m in add-ons. Verdict: Understand a centre-back is still on the shopping list. Be interesting to see if Ipswich would spend this much on a project player. Versatile attacker Derry Scherhant is reportedly being targeted by Ipswich, with the 23-year-old operating primarily as a left winger but also able to play centrally or on the right. His employers have set a firm valuation of €17.5m (£15m). Verdict: With Jaden Philogene, Daizen Maeda, and Jack Clarke all competing for left-wing minutes, I just can't see this being a position Town will add to. International midfielder Youssouf Fofana is reportedly being eyed by Ipswich, with the 27-year-old midfielder having been capped 25 times by France and racked up 68 appearances for AC Milan over the last two seasons. Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace are said to have made contract offers, with Town said to be 'monitoring the situation'. Spanish club Villarreal are also credited with interest in a player said to be valued at €18-20m. Verdict: Ipswich want to add a more creative midfielder to their ranks and are clearly setting their targets high. If the Palacios pursuit ends, it's not impossible this could be a route they explore.
