Ipswich Town have signed a new one-year contract extension with Wes Burns, keeping the 31-year-old winger at Portman Road.

What happened?

The Wales international's previous deal was set to expire, but new manager Gary O’Neil pushed for his retention to maintain continuity within the squad.

Why it matters for Ipswich Town

Burns has played a key role in Ipswich's recent success, featuring in three promotion campaigns since joining from Fleetwood Town in 2021, and has made 164 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals.

What comes next?

With the new deal, Burns will aim to help the Tractor Boys establish themselves in the top flight next season, as Ipswich Town currently stand 2nd in Championship, 84 pts, 23W-15D-8L from 46 games, recent form WDDWD, and 11 points behind leaders Coventry, having scored 80 goals and conceded 47 this season.
